William Wallace GRANT, son of William Arthur GRANT (c. 1869-c. 1936) and Ellen SARE (1866-1945), was born on 27 February 1899 in South Lopham, Norfolk. He was baptised on 9 April 1899 in South Lopham , the ceremony was conducted by Rev. T E COLE, curate - parents William Arthur (farmer) and Ellen. No service record has been found for William. He has a references in the absent voters lists for South Lopham. 1918 shows - Grant, Wallace at Chequers Farm - M.G.S. [Machine Gun Service], Spring 1919, address given as Bridge Farm, but with no military details, and Autumn 1919 again gave his address as Bridge Farm but showed the military details to be - 148850 Pte., 8th Bn. M.G.C. [Machine Gun Corps]. He died on 30 May 1983 in Hellesdon, Norfolk - aged 84 years. He had his estate probated on 30 May 1983 in Ipswich, Suffolk - “GRANT, William Wallace of 69 Gowing Rd Norwich died 30 May 1983 Administration with Will Ipswich 26 August. Not exceeding £25000. 931102632W.”
